Our Story
Spare Care was founded to bring greater compassion, consistency, and accountability to the home care industry an area where too many clients feel overlooked and underserved.
In 2005, Ava, our founder, began her journey in healthcare with the goal of becoming a nurse. Due to family circumstances, she transitioned into a shorter program and became a Personal Support Worker (PSW). Since then, she has worked in hospitals, retirement homes, long-term care facilities, and community settings while also caring for private clients.
Why We Started
Through years of hands-on experience, Ava began to notice recurring issues in the field: neglect, inconsistency, lack of communication, and a general absence of compassion. These weren’t isolated cases they reflected a broader pattern affecting many clients and families, especially those recovering from surgery, living with disabilities, or managing chronic health conditions.
By 2013, Ava knew she wanted to do more. She began building the foundation of her own agency one that truly values trust, empathy, and responsiveness for individuals in their homes. After years of thoughtful planning, she officially registered the business in 2019, later naming it Spare Care.
Caring for our clients involves multiple facets, including physical health, mental well-being, social connections, and overall happiness..
When caring for your loved ones, we ensure safety, security, and well-being. In addition, Spare Care provides updates and encourages open communication.
Our caregivers provide social interactions, cognitive stimulation, physical activity, emotional support, mindfulness, relaxation, and a sense of purpose and meaning.

Ava understands that she can’t change the entire system or make everyone more caring but she can lead a team that strives to do better. Her goal has never been perfection, but consistent progress: to listen, to learn, and to improve care one client at a time.
